Attend
Demonstrations

As long as there have been unjust wars, fought for profit, land, or "morals", people within the aggressor forces have fought against them. During Viet Nam enlisted people and even some officers joined in, and sometimes led anti-war demonstrations. In country, on ships, and back in the states, GIs published pamphlets and newspapers, passed petitions, took sanctuary in churches, applied for Conscientious Objector discharges and took other actions against the war.

Enlisted people also did and do fight, for decent working and living conditions. Against religious discrimination and intolerance. Against racism. Against sexism and homophobia. To be treated like human beings. And for the right to complain when being mistreated. This site aims to be a resource for military people and their families who want to Fightback! NO WAR!

A Matter of Conscience

Info Clearing House

From Monica Benderman;

Kevin and I just wanted to say HI.. and thank you!!!

The support is overwhelming, and we are grateful. Kevin has been placed on Rear Detachment with a new unit here at Ft. Stewart.

There is an investigation opening, into everything that happened prior to deployment, and he is getting good support, now, in getting his CO status considered. We are still worried about the rest of this unit, and their treatment, and hope that they will begin to speak out for themselves as well.

Thank you again.. there are some pretty fantastic people in this world.. we're glad to have "met" so many of them.

Happy night!!!!!

Another Anti-War Marine

And the Mom who Supports Him

My name is Kathie ******** and I live in Fredericksburg, VA. My husband Mark, has been a Naval Officer for 25 years now, which may have a little to do with our son, Trent Helmkamp, joining the Marines through their Delayed Entry Program in June 2003... The thought of killing another human being, and the reality of all the innocent lives lost during war, didn't really hit him until he was at boot camp. He came to realize that what might be asked of him in the future, killing others, was not something he could do and that it would violate his conscience. On the rifle range, the human shaped targets began to seem so real...

Iraqi Resistance speech on videotape
December 13 2004

GIFightback received an anonymous e-mail with a link to the following story. The Statement claims to be from,"The media platoon of the Islamic Jihad Army" in Iraq. We publish this story because you won't hear it in the corporate media.

The Statement starts, "These words come to you from those who up to the day of the invasion were struggling to survive under the sanctions imposed by the criminal regimes of the U.S. and Britain .

It goes on for awhile and then ends. "And to the American soldiers we say, you can also choose to fight tyranny with us. Lay down your weapons, and seek refuge in our mosques, churches and homes. We will protect you. And we will get you out of Iraq , as we have done with a few others before you.

It is interesting to note that the Vietnamese used the same tactic with American troops occupying their country decades ago.
